You’ll start by arriving at the activity centre to meet your instructors. Here, you’ll get sorted with all the necessary gear, which includes a wetsuit, helmet, and buoyancy aid.
Once everyone is kitted out, there’s a full safety briefing. The guides will explain how to handle the raft, the paddling commands, and what to do if you end up in the water. After that, it’s a short trip to the riverbank where you’ll board the raft as a team.
You’ll launch onto the River Dee, which is known for its consistent grade 2-3 rapids. This isn’t a gentle float; you’ll have to listen to the instructor’s calls, and work together to steer through sections like the ‘Serpent’s Tail’. It's bouncy, wet, and focuses on getting down the river as a single unit. There’s no artificial course here, just a genuine and natural river flow.
Your trip covers a good stretch of the water, giving you plenty of chances to get a feel for the raft and the power of the rapids before finishing up further downstream.

Please note the Minimum Age for White Water Rafting is 14 years.
For safety reasons we are unable to accommodate persons weighing in excess of 100kgs (16 stone). Please advise us in advance of any disabilities.
We advise you to contact the centre a few days before your booked date, to double-check water levels. You may be expected to jump from the raft into still practice waters as part of your initial training session.
Rafting operates in most conditions but may be affected by extreme weather conditions or flooding.
The session will last for approx two hours , the rafting course is around 2km in length. It is a steep, rocky course and the river is classed as a grade 3/4.
This experience is for two people! the experience is recommended for party sizes of two to six. You will share your raft with between three and five other rafters plus a qualified instructor.
Spectators are welcome to watch you both go down the river or they can join you by booking in!
Bring swimwear, a towel, a pair of old trainers and a change of clothes. You WILL get wet,
There are hot shower facilities at the venue. Buoyancy aid and a helmet will be supplied.
If you wear glasses, remove them or firmly secure them.
Subject to availability and water releases by the local river authority. We recommend booking six to eight weeks in advance. Spring and autumn are the best times to raft, as water levels are higher than in the drier summer months.

Minimum age is 12 years old, maximum chest girth 60'', maximum weight 16 stone
and in most cases you need to be confident in the water with a buoyoncy aid.
